Displaced colours
2011
enameled steel beams, erica violet, red purple

The site-specific intervention displaced colours was developed specifically for the Forum Vebikus in Schaffhausen. The exhibiton space Forum Vebikus
displays two physical characteristics which define the exhibition area sharply, the steel beams, which protrude distinctly from the ceilings into the space,
as well as the large window area. The work displaced colours utilizes both these attributes and restates them.

The entire window section was closed off with a plasterboard wall, the steel beams were enameled with erica violet and red purple.

The choice of colours originates from an observation made in Berlin. Due to the sandy soil in Berlin, large drainage-pipe systems have to be installed at
larger construction sites through which excess gound water is pumped off. These drainage-pipe systems are coloured in erica violet and red purple and are
visible throughout the city. The colours have an irritating effect in public space, i used this characeristic in order to put it into an art context. For me, the
main concern of the work was to shift the appearance of the steel girders from being disturbing elements into the focus of attention. By means of applying
the colours i defined the beam construction to art.
